Maryan is a writer and an activist. Born in a city she didn't get to grow up in and now living in a city she migrated to for work. In her work, Maryan focuses on issues that relate to the intersection of gender, ethnic, class, religion and ability. She holds that all women do not face discrimination in the same way or reason, nor all minorities yet the structures that uphold hierarchies are similar in manifestation of power. In the past years she has worked with people from different fields to bring visibility to these themes and find new allies and audiences outside the activist circles. Cross fields collaboration enables for her, re-imagining what is and could be to create safe spaces. Maryan believes that nobody is free until everyone is free and that we are all needed in creating the new European narrative that’s free of oppression and hierarchies.
