The Inner Ear (Innra eyrað) is an Icelandic group, located in Reykjavík, working with sounds and audio in various ways. The group consists of three members and founders, Elísabet Indra Ragnarsdóttir, Guðni Tómasson and Þorgerður E. Sigurðardóttir and works and plays somewhere on the border of fact and fiction, creating site-specific works and inviting it’s audience/participants to experience spaces in a new way through sound. The working methods involve collecting stories, experiences and sound that are subsequently used to exhume the meaning of a place, both in a collective and a personal sense. With the help of sound one can walk in other people’s shoes, travel through time and see the most mundane places in a new light.
